Testing & QA
Appium
Appium is an open-source automation framework for testing native, hybrid, and mobile web applications on iOS and Android using the WebDriver protocol.
What Appium is used for
Appium automates real interactions on mobile devices and emulators: tapping, swiping, typing, and verifying what appears on screen. Because it builds on the same WebDriver standard as Selenium, tests can be written in Java, Python, JavaScript, and other languages, and one test suite can often target both iOS and Android. It works with apps built natively as well as cross-platform frameworks like React Native and Flutter, without requiring changes to the app's source code.
Why it matters for business software
Mobile apps face a harder testing problem than the web: many device sizes, OS versions, and platform behaviors. Manual testing across that matrix is slow and expensive. Appium lets teams automate critical flows once and run them across devices, locally or on cloud device farms, before each release. For businesses whose customers live in a mobile app, that means fewer bad releases, faster store submissions, and better ratings driven by stability.
How Wizcoder AI Labs uses it
Appium is part of our mobile QA practice for native and cross-platform apps. We typically automate release-blocking journeys such as onboarding, payments, and core workflows, then run them against a device matrix as a gate in the delivery pipeline.
