LLM (Large Language Model)

A large language model (LLM) is a neural network trained on vast amounts of text that can understand and generate language, enabling tasks such as answering questions, summarizing, translating, and writing code.

How LLMs work

LLMs are built on the transformer architecture and trained to predict the next token in a sequence across enormous text corpora. After base training, they are refined with instruction tuning and feedback techniques so they follow directions and converse usefully. At runtime, an application sends a prompt and the model generates a response token by token. Modern LLMs also support function calling, which lets them request actions from external tools, and many are multimodal, accepting images or audio alongside text. Examples include Claude from Anthropic, GPT models from OpenAI, Gemini from Google, and open families such as Llama and Mistral.

Why it matters for business software

LLMs let software handle work that previously required a human reading and writing: triaging support requests, drafting responses, extracting fields from invoices, summarizing meetings, and reviewing documents. The practical constraints matter as much as the capability: LLMs can produce confident but wrong output, costs scale with usage, and responses are not deterministic. Successful business deployments pair models with retrieval for grounding, validation for critical outputs, and human review where mistakes are expensive. Treating the LLM as one component in a system, not the whole system, is what makes it dependable.

How Wizcoder AI Labs uses it

LLMs power the chatbots, agents, and document automation we build. Our AI development services cover model selection, prompt design, retrieval integration, and evaluation so the model performs reliably on each client's actual workload.
